"Racing Pilots - The Motorsports Photography of Jack Webster"
, is the result of 45+ years of racing photography by the author. Covering 1971 to the present day, this volume is more than a racing photo book, it provides the stories behind the photos. Sprinkled throughout the volume are quotes from drivers and racing insiders which give context to the photos displayed. With a foreword by multiple Sebring and Le Mans winner
Dindo Capello
, the book conveys the emotion of motor racing and pays tribute to all racers, both past and present.
The hardcover book is 328 pages long, measures 10x8 and contains over 400 photos, many not previously published. Designed and written by Jack Webster, the books were also printed in the USA.
Jack Webster grew up in the Dayton, Ohio area and has been involved in racing for as long as he can remember. From his first race as a shooter at Mid-Ohio in 1971, to Le Mans and almost everywhere in between, his cameras have captured the history of motorsport, its cars, tracks and drivers in this very personal journey through racing history.
He also gained great insight into the inner workings of motorsport through his work in the late 1980s as the Team Manager for the Porsche Fabcar team, which enjoyed great success in the IMSA Camel GT series. The team won a number of races, including the 12 Hours of Sebring and the Miami Grand Prix. That experience of working on the inside of motorsport greatly influenced his photography and determined the content, theme and flow of the book. Going through literally thousands of images to come up with the photos for this book, he chose images that best convey the excitement, color, personality and emotion of motorsport.
