    Vtg 1970s AKC Pointer Dog “On Point” Resin Figurine Marble Base Signed IITALY
    This lovely vintage Italian sculpture is of the famed American hunting dog--the Pointer—aristocrat of the sporting world, in the outdoors and at work. The figurine is made of an ivory resin that gives the look and feel of ivory or a fine enameled cast iron, and at a reasonable price (unlike carved Ivory) and with less weight than iron. The artist has captured the noble Pointer in the ultimate expression of canine power and grace—the “On Point” stance this dog uses to communicate with the hunter that the prey has been located.
    The pointer figurine stands on a beautiful rectangular black marble base, with rose & grey graining, accenting the ivory figurine that is signed with ITALY on the oval base to the back. FYI--Resin is not just a fancy word for average plastic. It is a composite blend, which is rotationally molded into strong and pliable products that can mimic the look of stone, ivory, and metal materials at a more affordable cost and at a fraction of the weight. This pre-owned sculpture is in excellent vintage condition. The marble base measures approximately 6 ½” by 3” by ¾” and the height of the sculpture is 5” at the head.
    FYI—The approximate date of the piece was arrived at by examining the felt used on the bottom to protect the furniture.
    Please keep in mind this is vintage and not a new item. I try to describe items as accurately as possible, but cannot always detail each flaw. Most vintage items are as they came from an estate, so may have water stains inside vases of age, scuff to wood, etc.
