Description
You are bidding on a very rare original antique engraving from an 1870s French illustrated journal. It depicts a Braque Saint-Germain (Saint Germain Pointer) that has just pointed a pheasant. Above the picture is the start of an article on the breed that ends on the back of the page. Free online computer translation sites would make this relatively easy to translate. Interesting early look at this rare pointer breed.
The caption reads: Le Chien de Saint-Germain
which roughly translates to: The dog of St. Germain
It is very large (folio size), measuring approximately 10.5 x 14.5 inches (26.5 x 36.5 cm). The picture area is about
8.5 x 5.5 inches (21.5 x 14 cm), with a French caption below and text above it. The text could easily be trimmed before framing, or hidden under a window mat.
The page is in excellent condition for its age.
There is text/photos on the back of the print.
See scan for an accurate view of the condition.
This is GENUINE antique/vintage item. It is not a modern reproduction.
